Name: Jordan Thompson

Born: November 15, 1988

Hometown: Winnipeg, MB

Born in Regina, SK, I was raised in Winnipeg, MB, where I graduated from Red River College’s Creative Communications program in 2012, with a major in Journalism.

My passion is three-fold; a triple-threat of unlikely cohorts that band together to make up about 85% of my life.  And when I was in school, about 103% (there was spillage).

Writing: I specifiy writing because that, in its simplest form, is my true passion.  Not journalism, or editing.  I enjoy both, but what I can truly say that I love, is sitting down with an idea, an emotion, or a page full of typo-soaked quotes, and writing something interesting with it.

I’ve been doing this since I was… oh, a wee lad (six), when I would write short story after short story, each one more ridiculous than the last.

With regards to communication, writing will always be my first choice.  There’s something truly relaxing and reassuring about being able to take the time to choose each word precisely, and perfectly articulate your thoughts and emotions.

While journalism is my pursuit, I have always wanted to write a novel, and hope to one day be able to work part-time as an author on top of my regular job.

Pro Wrestling: I fell in love with the business of professional wrestling in 2003; Eddie Guerrero sucked me in, and Chris Benoit kept me there. RIP, both.

To outsiders, and those jaded by the stereotypes that surround the business, pro wrestling will never be anything but two rednecks fake-punching one another.

But to me, it’s the epitome of passion.  Not only is the pain that wrestlers put themselves through immense, their job is life-threatening, they do it four days a week (sometimes up to six), and there is no off-season.  Many leave spouses and children behind for over 300 days a year.  What the truly talented and dedicated wrestler does on a day-to-day-basis borders on impossible.

I don’t watch as much as used to, as I simply don’t have the time, but I will still tune in from time to time, and certainly have opinions on the state of the business today.

Hockey: I play and watch.  My all-time favourite is hands down Stevie ‘Wonder’ Yzerman; truly a picture of hard work, class and respect.  It is for this reason that I still maintain an allegiance to the Detroit Red Wings. However, I am proud to say that for the first time in my adult life I now have a home team to cheer for! Winnipeg Jets fan for life!
